IRC Care Services endeavor to meet every requirement, regardless of the level of support needed. We offer person-centred care support to individuals and families who need our support. Our services include but not limited to care for those limited by age-related impairments, illness, physical, mental and emotional challenges. We strive to enable them to maintain their daily routine, engage with the local community, friends and family while staying in the comfort of their home.
What is included in Live-in Care Services
With this service the service-user has 24-hour support available to them whenever they need it. Activities, include:
Personal care
When it comes to personal care, IRC works in line with the fundamental standards, so as to meet the standards of the Care Act 2014 and regulatory requirements. Support with Washing ie showering, bathing, (bed baths and full basin washing).Assist with getting dressed/ Undressed, Managing continence eg changing continence pads, catheter care, convene care, stoma care and maintaining aids used for continence including commodes and urinary bottles, Personal grooming and oral care, including Skin and Hair care, Prompting or administering medication, Assist with getting up and Going to Bed.
Domestic Support
We at IRC hold with high esteem cleanliness in a home because we understand its relevance in health and prevention of infection. We therefore aim to support our clients with the following tasks, i.e. laundry (washing and ironing), cleaning furniture and carpets, bathroom and wash facilities. We also support with hoovering/mopping floors, maintaining houseplants, disposal of bins, dusting/Surface cleaning and sanitizing, caring for pets, Bed making and changing of beddings.
Our homecare workers are however not allowed to use cleaning agents with irritants fumes such as bleach or drain cleaning materials with sulphuric acid (This is in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002)
Personal Assistant
Our staff carry out administrative tasks such making and rescheduling appointments, Budgeting and planning, paying bills, correspondence, maintaining Social Contact such as accompanying clients to Clubs / Day Care Centres. We provide advice and Supportive Information, complete Risk / Health and Safety Assessments, Telephone Calls and Questionnaires, Regular Communication with Assigned Co-Ordinator’s, Care Plan Reviews, Inter-agency Liaison (e.g., attend review meetings with Care Managers as requested).
Companionship and emotional support
IRC Care endeavours to break barriers that come with luck of effective communication as we are aware of the role it plays in promoting companionship and delivering high-quality pperson-cantered care. In our quest to support our clients emotionally, our Support workers are equipped with communication knowledge and skills as they undergo training in effective dialogue communication. It is important that our staff maintain voice tone and pace, good first impression, open questions, clarifying messages and empathy when communicating. We also train our staff in effective non lexical communication skills such as facial expressions, eye contact, proximity and posture, object and simple language-use of communication aids, such as images. We also accompany clients on social outings and walks.
Managing and prompting medication
Although IRC Support workers undergo comprehensive training with regards to managing and administering medication, the individual using our services gives consent for us to offer support with this service. Our homecare workers endeavor to support service users by giving medication on time and as prescribed to enhance health and well-being. We also ensure that any concerns regarding medication are documented and reported to the relevant authorities as soon as possible in line with the company policies and procedures.
Nutritional and Hydration needs
We support our service users with nutritional needs and our staff endeavors to work alongside dieticians as well as speech and language therapists, to ensure that those with dietary needs are well supported including the monitoring of weights and ensuring that balanced diet is always provided. We also offer food and hygiene training as a mandatory to our staff. We offer personal choices to our service users with regards to meals and offer support with preparation of Breakfast, hot/light meals /snacks and drinks.
Shopping and other errands
As a Care agency, we understand that having basic needs met is vital in promoting one’s well-being, IRC provides support with shopping and our support varies from assisting with writing a shopping list to taking clients to shops of their preference. We also shop on behalf of clients at their request.
Mobility support/Reablement
At IRC Care, we offer services to clients who have support needs as a result of an accident or terminal illness, recovery from an operation or hospital visit. Our homecare is here to support individuals fulfil their potential and enjoy a better quality of life by promoting independence. Our staff receive mandatory moving and handling training with a variety of equipment’s which vary from the mildest of aids such as a walking stick to more sophisticated aids such as molift raisers and full sling hoist.
